Over the past few weeks, I had the joy of photographing updated headshots for the staff at Church of the Good Shepherd here in Durham, NC. Since Levi and I recently started working at the church part-time, this project felt especially close to my heart. I loved getting to spend time with everyone—helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera and capturing their personalities in a way that feels true to who they are.
I’ve seen how much of a difference a good headshot can make—not just for businesses, but for churches and nonprofits, too. It’s about more than a polished photo; it’s about connection. For the staff themselves, having updated headshots helps build a sense of team identity. It gives them a way to represent who they are and the roles they serve in, making it easier for others to connect with them as a team.
For churches like Church of the Good Shepherd, these images are also a powerful way to welcome people in. When someone can see who they’re reaching out to—whether they’re checking the website for the first time or looking for a familiar face on Sunday morning—it makes the church feel personal and inviting.
Whether I’m photographing church staff, small business teams, or individual professionals, my goal as a North Carolina photographer is always the same—to create images that feel like you and help others connect with what you do.
